Patrick Thomas: Zeichen, 4.3. — 19.5.2017

‘Zeichen’ will be Patrick Thomas’ first exhibition at the newly established Mojäk Galerie in Heilbronn. On show will be a previously unseen body of modulor prints which form part of the artist’s ongoing ‘Multiples’ series created using the industrial process of screenprinting which investigate and question the intersection that exists between the original and edition. Following an earlier visit by the artist to the city, The ‘Zeichen’ series reference the industrial heritage of the Heilbronn-Franken region and are informed by a universal industrial vernacular design aesthetic. As modules, the pieces work individually or collectively and may be reconstructed in multiple ways. They may be perceived as components of a work in progress, as blueprints for something on a much larger scale. The exhibition will consist of medium and small format unique pieces, artists’s proofs and (very) limited editions. All work is for sale. There will also be an intervention on the gallery’s windows. Patrick Thomas was born in Liverpool, UK. Patrick Thomas is a graphic artist, author and professor. He studied a BA(Hons) at Central Saint Martins School of Art and an MA at the Royal College of Art in London. In 1991 he relocated to Barcelona where in 1997 he founded the multidisciplinary art space Studio laVista. Currently he lives and works between Berlin, Barcelona and London. Since October 2013 he is professor of Kommunikationsdesign at Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart.
